South Sudan, the world's newest country, has been in a state of civil war almost since its inception. Millions have fled to neighboring countries or are internally displaced, and almost all institutions of civil society have broken down. This includes access to education. SoA Professor Betsy West will discuss her focus on designing a school for Old Fangak, South Sudan as well as some of the work of the students in her humanitarian design course addressing needs in other parts of the world.
