Where to Check Out?

From Atkins Library, check out at the Information and Research Desk on the first floor. See the Atkins Library floor map.

From Hight Architecture Library in the Storrs Building, check out at the Circulation Desk. See the Hight Architecture Library floor map.

For a list of where to return your library items, see Renew & Return.

Our Check Out Policies

Use only your own ID card. Misusing ID cards may prevent you from checking out items in the future. In some cases, you may assign someone to pick up library items for you.

Take care of your library items. We all share them! Keep them safe from writing, highlighting, food/water spills, and tearing. If you lose or damage your item, you’ll have to pay for its repair or replacement. See Fines and Lost Items for more information.

What Can I Check Out?

If you’re a current faculty, staff, or student at UNC Charlotte, you can borrow an unlimited number of items. Otherwise, you are permitted to have no more than 6 items out at a time.

Items in these collections need to stay in the building and cannot be checked out:

  • The Suzuki Collection
  • Local Documents
  • Microfilm and Microfiche items
  • Map Collection

Everything else is borrowable, but what you can access will depend on what type of borrower you are. Find your user status below for more details on what you'll need to borrow and what is available to you.
