For UNC Charlotte students, faculty, staff, Friends of Atkins Library, and Alumni:

  • Log into My Account

  • Call the Information and Research Desk at 704-687-0491

  • Bring the item to the Information and Research Desk

When can I renew?

You can renew items from the general collection up to two times. If another borrower requests an item that you have checked out, or if you have a fine over $10 on your library account, you may not be able to renew the item. If you still need an item beyond the loan period of two renewals, please bring the item to the Information and Research Desk and a staff member will assist you.

Returns

When you check out an item, an email is sent to your UNC Charlotte email (or the email on file for non-UNC Charlotte borrowers) with the due date(s) of your item(s).

You are welcome to return items earlier than the due date that is provided to you, but your library materials must be returned on or before the due date to avoid late fines. You are also emailed courtesy notices and reminders when your materials are due soon.

Where can I return my items?

Bring your items (Atkins and Architecture Library) to Atkins Library at the first floor Information and Research Desk, outside book drops, or inside book drops located at the Information and Research Desk and the north entrance. Several other book drops are located across campus. You can also return items to the Hight Architecture Library located in the Storrs Building.

Library books drops are generally checked Monday through Friday. If you have time-sensitive material such as an item that has been requested by another patron, please return it to the Information and Research Desk in order to avoid accruing late fines.

What not to put in book drops

Please return Interlibrary Loan items, Course Reserves, and all library technology to the Information and Research Desk at Atkins. If you have items that you checked out from the Technology Support Desk, you can return them there, or if the Technology Support Desk is closed, return them to the Information and Research Desk.

Request a search for a returned item

If you think you’ve returned a library item and it is still showing up on your library account, you can submit a form to request a search for a returned item. A library staff member will promptly search the library and reach out to you with an update. While the search is in process, fines are prevented from accruing onto your library account.

If the item is located, it will be returned and removed from your library account. Any fines that were added to your account from that item will be waived. If the item is not located, the search for the item will continue for up to one week.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact librarystacks@uncc.edu.
