Catty Dan Zhang joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture (SoA) at UNC Charlotte this fall. Catty holds a Master of Design Studies (M.Des.) from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Between 2011-2015, Catty was a Lecturer at Washington University teaching undergraduate and graduate design studios and seminars on architectural representation, and advanced workshops in digital dynamic animations, interfaces and prototypes. Since 2010, Catty has been a Design Principal on numerous award-winning building design projects (built and speculative) at Axi:Ome LLC in St. Louis. She's currently working on the 120,000sf Silverlake International School in Fuyang District, Hangzhou, China, expected to break ground this spring. This fall, Catty is teaching a 2nd year undergraduate design studio and an elective on kinetic-material-atmospheric design research.
