Through its Center of Training and Innovation (CTI), the One Eleuthera Foundation (OEF) engages young professionals to advance existing skills and to improve the social well-being of the residents of Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas. Building upon CTI’s efforts, the College has begun a year-long initiative that will result in the construction of prototype off-the-grid shelters for South Eleuthera Island. This international partnership, which begins with the One Eleuthera Foundation’s Center of Training and Innovation (CTI), the College of Arts and Architecture at UNC Charlotte (UNCC), and Michael Singer Studio (MSS), also involves the University of the Bahamas Department of Architecture and Technology and its Department of Visual Arts (UB), and Florida A&M University’s School of Architecture and Engineering Technology (FAMU).
