Atkins Library is celebrating Open Access Week this October 24-30. Open Access Week is a global event that explores how open scholarship benefits the academic and research community. This year’s theme is “Open for Climate Justice,” which explores how sharing knowledge openly can work to address the climate crisis.

Here at UNC Charlotte, we have a number of researchers publishing open access about environmental justice, including the following works:

  • Environmental justice implications of siting criteria in urban green infrastructure planning,” published open access, co-authored by Fushcia-Ann Hoover (Department of Geography and Earth Sciences)
  • Financial inclusion may limit sustainable development under economic globalization and climate change,” published open access, co-authored by Shi Chen (Department of Public Health Sciences)
  • Stormwater on the margins: Influence of race, gender, and education on willingness to participate in stormwater management,” postprint available open access, co-authored by Sandra M. Clinton (Department of Geography and Earth Sciences)
  • Connecting the dots between climate change, household water insecurity, and migration,” postprint available open access, co-authored by Joseph Kangmennaang (Department of Global Studies)
  • Do socioeconomic factors drive Aedes mosquito vectors and their arboviral diseases? A systematic review of dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever, and Zika Virus,” published open access, co-authored by Shi Chen (Department of Public Health Sciences) and Eric Delmelle (Department of Geography and Earth Sciences)

This is an evolving list, so please feel free to send additional works to Savannah Lake, Digital Scholarship Librarian, at savannah.lake@uncc.edu. And celebrate Open Access Week with us by checking out our blog the week of October 24-30 for posts on open access resources on campus.
