Atkins Library is honored to participate in the campus-wide event to bring Dr. Angela Davis to the UNC Charlotte community. Dr. Davis, a political activist and former member of the Black Panther Party, has agreed to be the featured speaker on February 12, an event that is spearheaded by the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services on campus (CAPS). In addition to the library assisting with this event, two other campus groups will also co-sponsor the event: the Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement (IEE), and the Campus Activities Board (CAB). Atkins Library is responsible for the reception, which will host Dr. Davis, along with a selected group of students for an intimate conversation over light refreshments. This event will be held in the Halton Room beginning at 8:00pm.
A special thanks to the Events and Exhibits Committee for their involvement with this event. Their collaboration with Special Collections and University Archives will allow the reception attendees to experience a physical exhibit featuring related materials on the activism of Dr. Davis, along with information on the Black Panther Party.
