Here’s a bit of Area 49 information for the start of the new semester.
Area 49 Hours
The Area 49 Desk will be open M-F 10am-4pm, and will not be open weekends until open Federal Works Study and/or Student Temp Wage positions are filled. If you know of any students in need of positions, please direct them to Hire-A-Niner.
The Makerspace will be open M-F 10am-4pm beginning Monday, August 29th. As always, the first week of classes is our time to train our new Makerspace Monitors.
Area 49 Tech
We have a lot of new tech! Here’s what you can look forward to in the next few weeks.
For Area 49 Desk checkouts, we have more digital cameras, microphone options, and memory cards, as well as the items from the Adaptive Technology Grant (iPads, Apple Pencils, and webcams).
For the Gaming Lab, we have added over 30 games for checkout, and 98 games on the PCs. 13 of the games have been added to the Diversity in Gaming Collection. We also now have a Nintendo Switch and Guitar Hero.
Most of this new tech is in Alma and on the website, and we are working quickly to finalize the rest. Once you see it listed on the website, you’ll know it’s good to go!
And finally, in the Makerspace, we have a foiling kit, metallic paint pens, a calligraphy kit, and more. We also have 5 new 3D printers to our lineup, so stop by and see them in the window. They look great all lined up.
