“Fostering Constructive Disagreement in Student Discourse” with Kevin Marinelli, teaching associate professor and executive director for the Program for Public Discourse at  UNC Chapel Hill, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23 via Zoom.

Marinelli will share practical insights gleaned from his experience teaching rhetoric and directing the Program for Public Discourse. He will focus on constructive dialogue in the classroom and across campus, including approaches to public dialogue and deliberation, classroom exercises and student development. Participants will leave with a toolkit of rhetorical activities, best practices and theoretical perspectives.

The Program for Public Discourse strives to support a culture of robust public argument through curricular and extra-curricular engagement, equipping students with the rhetorical and deliberative capacities to serve Carolina and beyond as citizens, leaders, and stewards of democracy.
