Atkins Library is celebrating Open Access Week this October 23-29. Open Access Week is a global event that explores how open scholarship benefits the academic and research community. This year’s theme is “Community over Commercialization,” which explores how open scholarship can prioritize the best interests of the public and the academic community.
Here at UNC Charlotte, we have a number of resources that aim to increase information equity and access for the public and academic community, including:
- Niner Commons, UNC Charlotte’s open repository where faculty, students, and staff can widely share their research and scholarship
- Open journal and book publishing services, where we support UNC Charlotte faculty in publishing open access journals and books
- Publishing deals and discounts, in which Atkins Library has negotiated discounts for article processing fees that enable you to publish open access with publishers like SAGE Publishing and Cambridge University Press
Celebrate Open Access Week with us by checking out our blog the week of October 23-29 for posts on open access resources on campus.
