Hi Atkins,

Linked below are the minutes from the 2/19/2024 Assessment Committee meeting.

Top Takeaways from the Meeting:
1. A library / OneIT working group has been formed to address Data Governance, Privacy, and Transparency (led by Becky and Curtis). As part of the first phase of the project, several individuals are working together to conduct a data inventory. Future next steps will include outlining data governance permissions for each data source, creating a data dictionary, developing purge and archive schedules, outlining the flow of data, and implementing a plan to be more transparent to our library users about what data we collect, how we use it, etc. The Assessment Committee previewed two libraries' public-facing assessment pages for inspiration for us. (UNLV: https://www.library.unlv.edu/about/library_assessment; Duke

2. Jon discussed a library navigation/wayfinding project underway in the library via a small working group. The group is taking a multi-pronged approach to improve navigation and wayfinding support for our library users. This will include placing 7 new digital kiosks in strategic locations throughout the library. Integrating 360 Tours (via Matterport) of the library spaces and features into the kiosk interface, adjusting some signage, etc.

3. Jon and the Community-Driven User Experience group are planning to submit a grant proposal in response to the Inclusive Excellence Grant call for proposals for funding to support a study to better understand the needs and experiences of Hispanic students at Atkins Library. This study would use the same model that we used for the Black Student Experience and the Neurodivergent Student studies. Proposals are due 3/13/24 (https://diversity.charlotte.edu/ie-grant). Plans are also underway for the library to submit a proposal for funding to support the development of a sensory-friendly room in the library (co-leads Christin Lampkowski & Olivia Patterson, with the support of Jon and Becky).

Please let me know if you have any questions or assessment needs that you would like to discuss.

Thanks!
Becky
