Requesting Items From The Library
You can request items from the library catalog to be held for pickup. A staff member will pull your requested items and have them ready for you to pick-up from the Information and Research Desk, located on the first floor. Items can be requested online through our library catalog and at the Information and Research Desk.
What You Need To Know
- Requested items are pulled Monday through Friday during the spring and fall semesters, twice per day at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
- Items requested before 10:00 AM should be available for pick-up by 11:00 AM, and items requested before 2:00 PM should be available for pick-up by 3:00 PM. Items requested after 2:00 PM will have to wait until the next weekday.
- During summer sessions, items are pulled only once per day. Items requested over the weekend will be processed and pulled the following Monday morning.
You will receive an email notification letting you know when the item is ready for pick-up.
The current Borrowing and Check-out Policies still apply to items that are requested for pick-up.

To Request an Item For Pick-Up:
Go to our library catalog.
In the search box, type in the item that you are looking for.
Select the title from the search results.
If you are not already signed in to your library account, you will be asked to do so before placing a request.
Under Get It, click Request.
In the Pickup Location drop-down menu, select Atkins Library.
Once you are finished, click Send Request.
You will be notified through your UNC Charlotte email when your item is ready to be picked up. All requested items will be placed on the Hold Shelf, located across from the Information and Research Desk, for seven days. Any items that are still on the Hold Shelf after seven days will be removed and will be reshelved or checked out to another patron. When you come to pick-up your item, please bring it to the Information and Research Desk to be checked out under your library account.

Cancelling an Item Request
To cancel an item you have requested, log into your library account using your NinerNet credentials. On the overview tab, any items you have requested will appear and you will see the option to click Cancel on the right hand side of the item. Once you click cancel, you will see an option to confirm the cancellation request. Click on Cancel It and then you should receive an email notification confirming the cancellation.
