The Mary & Harry L. Dalton Rare Book and Manuscript Room is on the 10th floor of the library. Here, you can request and use Special Collections & University Archives materials. These are the library's unique materials that can’t be checked out, including rare books and archives relating to University history and local history.
The Dalton Reading Room is free and open to the public, and we welcome students and researchers from across campus, the region, and the world. Although those using rare books and archival materials have priority, the Dalton Reading Room is available for anyone seeking a quiet place to study.
Due to the unique and irreplaceable nature of the collections in our care, we ask that you abide by policies and procedures that will help ensure that these materials will be available to researchers for generations to come.
- Do not bring food or drinks into the Dalton Reading Room.
- Leave personal belongings such as backpacks, bags, and coats at the front of the room.
Those using Special Collections & University Archives materials will also be asked to comply with rules for handling materials.
