Deals Allow Authors to Publish without APC

Read and Publish Deals

Atkins Library works hard to support researchers on campus. As part of this work, we have negotiated several Read and Publish Deals with high-level research publishers. The deals allow UNC Charlotte authors to publish their articles Open Access without paying expensive Article Processing Charges (APCs). Please see the deals we currently have below:

Deals covering Article Processing Charges for all journals:

  • American Chemical Society (ACS)
  • Cambridge University Press
  • Institute of Physics (IOP) 
  • (New!) John Benjamins Publishing 
  • Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) 

Deals with some coverage of Article Process Charges:

  • (New!) Elsevier - UNC Charlotte authors are eligible to publish their articles open access with fees covered in hybrid journals across the Elsevier portfolio. There is a limited number of fee waivers shared across the Carolina Consortium, so funding is not guaranteed.   • Springer Nature Publishing - UNC Charlotte authors are eligible to publish their articles open access with fees covered in hybrid journals across the Springer Nature portfolio. There is a limited number of fee waivers shared across the Carolina Consortium, so funding is not guaranteed. For more information and a list of eligible journals please visit the Carolina Consortium Agreement Information page.
  • (Updated!) Wiley Publishing Inc - Wiley will cover the cost of all hybrid journal APCs and a limited number of fully open Gold Journal APCs using vouchers shared among the Carolina Consortium for full Gold Journals. There is a limited number of fee waivers for Gold Journals shared across the Carolina Consortium, so funding is not guaranteed. To participate in these deals please be sure that the corresponding author is affiliated with UNC Charlotte at the time of acceptance and uses their UNC Charlotte email in their article submission.
