Extended Reality (XR) goes beyond the dichotomy of passive methods of engagement with the public. It offers an interactive method to expand visualization techniques in public participation. This presentation discusses a set of XR applications developed by a partnership among four community-based organizations and educational institutions in City of Charlotte. These apps support a series of community events aimed at increasing overall public participation and civic engagement with a goal of increasing awareness of community history through data and storytelling.
